

That said, it saves me plenty of time in redeeming product codes and the sharing features alone are more than worth the asking price. If you choose wireless, notice the battery life. For messages, the chat pad is a tremendous improvement over the onscreen keyboard, but still not as convenient as using Xbox One Smartglass on your phone or tablet. If both connection methods sound appealing, consider a pair that can work both wired and wirelessly, but be sure to check whether some features are disabled in wired mode. The fit is slightly off but it works fine and it’s so minor I doubt many people would notice anyways.

I use a chatpad on my Elite 2 controller and haven’t had any issues with either the Arctis 7x or the Xbox wireless headset. I have gotten a few chatpads by themselves from BestBuy and GameStop, 9.99 I believe was the price, might have been 14.99 at GS. It's nice to have the keyboard without having to put the controller down, IMO.

And with wired headphones, you don’t have to worry about charging a battery. The Xbox Chatpad is perfect for any PC gamer that prefers controllers, but doesnt want to lose the power that keyboards bring for in-game text chatting and hotkeys. Logitech has some good ones that are fairly small.

There are also new buttons for muting the microphone. The layout is very similar, though the left and right arrows have been replaced with buttons labelled X1 and X2.

The spaces between the keys are now gone, but this doesn’t seem to affect typing accuracy. Among the reasons for the comeback is that, generally, wired has better audio performance for less money, since the cost goes mainly into tuning, drivers, and design, instead of features like Bluetooth.
